I really should be struggling through one or two more genetics problems, or working on the mountain of SIP stuff due on Thursday, but instead I choose to give up on genetics (temporarily anyways) and pretend that SIP doesn't exist (what 30 page paper?) and write on this blog instead. I had the most amazing weekend ever. I was in Therapy. :)
Yes, I did say Therapy. And yes, I did capitalize it, and will continue to do so when I mention it again. Why? Because it's the name of the ski boat owned by the family of one of my good friends here at school, who kindly invited me and 3 others down to Augusta for the weekend to hang out and learn how to water-ski.
Needless to say, I was super excited to be going (my roommates were threatening to tie me down if I didn't chill out). I LOVE being on the water, and I was slightly excited to be learning how to water-ski. So when we finally got out onto the lake on Saturday, I was one happy camper. And after watching my friends ski (both of whom have skied for years, I might add), I thought that learning how might not be so hard after all. Ha....ha.....ha. I had a fairly steep learning curve, which intellectually I knew would happen, but I just held out hope that maybe I would just be a natural at it (after all, my dad knew how, and that sort of thing passes through the genes right?? Hmmmmm....maybe a little more genetics studying is in order....). Along the way, I tweaked my back (which thankfully was not bad at all), bruised several fingers, and took several hard crashes which my friend described as "awesome" and which caused me to inhale a lot of lake water (this is definitely not the preferred method of rehydrating yourself...it tends to cause lots of coughing for a few days afterwards).
However, I finally made it up, and stayed up for a couple minutes....until I hit the wake of the boat. Depending on who you ask, I either made it over the wake and then crashed spectacularly, or crashed while crossing the wake. I should point out that I didn't mean to cross the wake right then. I had noticed that it was slowly getting closer, and by the time I realized that it was reeeeeally close and I should maybe try to steer away, I had already hit it and landed hard in the water. But I was very proud of myself for making it up and staying up for as long as I did! The other two girls who had not skied much (if at all) before also stayed up and skied very well. We all had a blast in our weekend group Therapy. :)
I always knew you'd end up in Therapy.
