Allergy season always seems to sneak up on me. It usually ends up being pretty much year-round for me (thank you dust-mite allergies that never really go away, no matter what the weather), but it always gets worse when things start blooming and the weather turns nicer. I go to sleep one night feeling pretty good, and wake up the next day looking to find the license plate number of the truck that must have run over me during the night. Scratchy, dry, and sore throat, major sinus congestion, runny nose, lots of sneezing, and irritated lungs that make me cough all indicate to me that allergy season is in full swing. This year, I'm particularly irritated because all this has started in February, meaning that I didn't get nearly enough time off from symptoms (it's one of the only things I like about winter :) ), and because my throat and irritated lungs are making it hard to talk, and I really need to be able to in order to lecture to my students about everything from the Civil War to WWII. I better get some antihistamines and Sudafed into my system...and maybe some extra coffee too. :) I hope you fellow allergy sufferers are not experiencing lots of symptoms too!
Update: So this post on allergy season was a bit premature. I should instead have been ranting about cold viruses, especially nasty insidious ones that don't let you sleep much and make it hard to discuss history with any kind of authority. Thankfully I was able to finish out this week, which officially ends this tutoring job. Hope I taught them something! :)
Hope so too. Maybe you should go into teaching full-time.
ReplyDeleteDid you teach them something?
ReplyDeleteI have no idea if I taught them anything that stuck...no word on how they did on their test. I hope that after constant quizzing they now know who Adolf Hitler and Abraham Lincoln were, who won the Civil War, and what year Alabama became a state. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope so too!
