Olympic Expert

I really really really love the Olympics. I don't even really know why. I'm sure part of it is because there's always something good on TV to watch, and because I have fond memories of watching in previous years with family members. It's great to critique the opening ceremony with people (verdict on this years': pretty confusing, but with some great high points), especially when it comes to the parade of nations. I mean, how often do you get to criticize the fashion choices of over 200 countries? (side note: not really a fan of the US outfits, but kinda loved the Netherlands' choice of orange pants.)
I think one of my favorite things about the Olympics is that you get to be an expert in nearly every sport. I really love watching the indoor volleyball and totally calling the few errors they make at the same time as the refs (it's giving me a big head though...I'm starting to suffer delusions that I could totally have made the dig on that serve that was going 74 mph). But I also get to critique gymnasts, swimmers, divers, archers, ping-pongers, runners, jumpers, and all kinds of other athletes. For two weeks you get to be an expert in pretty much any sport, and you get to do this with everyone else who's watching.
Enough writing for now...gotta get back to the sports! ;)
