Thoughts about the Olympics (so far)

Since pretty much all I've done lately besides work is watch the Olympics (pathetic, I know, but this only happens once every 4 years), here's a few thoughts on the games so far:
  • They need to show more medal ceremonies that don't involve the U.S.A winning a gold medal. I want to hear some totally random national anthems. I could also do with less of the British anthem, which causes me to have "My Country Tis of Thee" stuck in my head for several hours.
  • Speaking of anthems, do our athletes not know the words to our anthem, or do they just not want to sing it? Because someone either needs to slip them a lyric sheet or otherwise make them sing.
  • Some of these interviewers are just terrible. Sure, why bother asking any of the other 3 men who just won gold in a relay how it feels to win gold when you can ask them how they feel about Michael Phelps and his career?
  • I love watching indoor volleyball. And I miss playing it. And after watching two Norwegian sisters play beach volleyball, I'm wondering why my sister and I didn't do that. ;)
  • They're having a liiiiiiittle too much fun with the slow-motion footage. While helpful in some events, I don't really need to see the faces of the sprinters jiggling around.
  • You can get a lot done during a commercial break; I vacuumed my entire apartment during 2 commercial breaks (and I did a decent job too :) ).
  • Gymnastics used to be way crazier. I'll leave you with Exhibit A:

I know that this is super dangerous, but why don't they do this anymore?! ;)
