Since I have a lot less to do for finals week than normal, and since I don't feel like studying a whole lot at this point, I was flipping through some old stuff on my computer, and found a list of quotes that Laura and I wrote down during Spring Break our freshman year. I thought I should share them here with you all, especially since most of them are from Jeeves and Wooster and I know some of you will love them (*fake cough* Kellers! *fake cough*).
::Laura Barnes, while looking at a picture of Queen Elizabeth I, says indignantly::
"That's not Jesus!"
::Bertie Wooster::
"Leave me Spode; I would be alone."
::Bertie Wooster::
"One cannot be a successful dictator and design women's underclothing."
::Jeeves::
"He may not read it until after completing his ablutions, sir."
::Mrs. Wilberforce to Jeeves::
"I don't know how I can keep a straight face with you standin' behind me sayin': 'Can I tempt madame with a potato?'"
::Lady Glossop::
"How would you support a wife, Mr. Wooster?"
"Well it would depend on whose wife it was...generally, I find a gentle, steady pressure at the lady's left elbow while crossing a busy street normally fits the bill."
::Roderick Spode to Bertie Wooster::
"You're like a butterfly, flitting from woman to woman, then tossing them aside like soiled gloves!"
"Do butterflies do that?"
::Bertie Wooster::
"What ho, what ho, what ho!"
::Jeeves::
"I am given to understand that King Gustav was quite generous with the young lady."
::Police Car to Mater::
"What did I tell you about talking to the accused?"
"Tuh not to."
::Mater::
"She just likes me fur mah boooody."
"I'm happier 'n a tornado in a trailer park!"
::Roderick Spode::
"The only thing that stands in between us and victory is defeat!"
(yeah, think about that one for a minute....deep, isn't it?)
::Barmy Fotheringay Phipps::
"I tell you, the way he's talked about Brussel Sprouts has changed my life!"
::Roderick Spode::
"Ba-DOING!"
::Jeeves::
"Ho dee ho dee ho dee ho, sir."
::Karin, thinking hard about a quote, comments to Laura::
"I know I've said stupid things lately!"
"Yeah you have!"
AHH!! I was in the library choking back laughter when I read these. :) Such good memories!
ReplyDelete"can i tempt madame with a potato" HAHA
I think I want to make some of these quotes my life motto...I think that Wooster's one about dictators and women's underclothing might fit the bill. :)
ReplyDeletehaha, agreed!
ReplyDeleteAnd of course you intend to become a dictator.
