More Bio, Less Chem?

Well, contrary to my previous post, I did not get to start making my probe on Friday...that has been postponed until Wednesday (at the earliest). Different stuff came up, including new issue with a vacuum pump and an interesting decision by the management to work on fire alarms doing the week, meaning that we were not allowed to work with anything flammable, combustible, anything with lots of vapor, or any sort of open flame. All that adds up to mean that I could basically do nothing in the lab today, so I had to entertain myself with research on the Internet and tidying things up around the lab.
Later in the afternoon, I got to prepare stock solutions for the free-flow electrophoresis machine. Basically, this device is used to separate out different cell components based on their weight and their electrical properties (for those biologists, it's basically like a combo of TLC and gel electrophoresis...I'll explain more later, preferably with a poorly drawn diagram by yours truly). I had to make solutions for the machine so that tomorrow (hopefully) we can try it out, and I will get to learn how to use a scary looking machine.

It looks way scarier in person than it does here, I promise. :)
This weekend, Aunt Carol and I went to Spokane, and did a little shopping. I got some super cute shoes to go with my bridesmaid's dress for my sister's wedding (gah! crazy thought), and found the best deal in the world at Macy's: a $66 sweater for $8. Seriously, how could I pass that up? The sweater got proportionally cuter and more awesome the cheaper it got. ;)
Ok, off to watch more NCIS! I love that my aunt and uncle have 5 seasons on DVD...by the time I leave here, I think I should have seen every episode to date. Abby is definitely my favorite, by far...reasons why can be listed at some other time. Further progress (or lack thereof, the way things are going) on my research will be posted later. :)
