Things I like

Research goes on much as it always does. More gels, more westerns, more hurry-up-and-wait. I did discover that it will take forever for a national laboratory with gazillions of resources to get a simple network cable and monitor cable. Seriously, what are these people using their funding for?
Since I have nothing new to report, but still feel like writing, I thought I'd mention a few things that I like. Some of these I have discovered recently, but some are older. Aaaaaaand....begin.
  1. Books. This is nothing new. But there is one book that I read (on the recommendation of my cousin Kim and my Aunt Carol) that was very good. It's called The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. It's a collection of letters (fictional) that share the stories of many people living on the island of Guernsey during World War II. It's very well-written, and both my aunt and I had a hard time putting it down. I'd definitely recommend it.
  2. The movie Up. And the video game, which has very frustrating moments, but is still very fun. I just finished it, and am just slightly sad now. But I'll just replay some of the more fun levels, and get my fix of Dug that way.
  3. Strawberry pie. My aunt made one on Saturday, and I could have eaten all of it, it was so good. Plus, it's really refreshing on a hot day. And, as an added bonus, the recipe was typed in the middle of a letter my grandma wrote to my aunt several years ago, and that alone was entertaining.
  4. NCIS. I know I've mentioned this before, but I want to be Abby. Just without the black hair or the tattoos. Ok, maybe I want to have her job instead of be her. :)
  5. Cake Wrecks. I have to give a big thanks to my sister Mel for introducing me to this blog. It is absolutely hysterical. You really just have to go see it for yourself at http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/ . I recommend checking out the link on the right hand side (scroll down) entitled Naked Mohawk-Baby Carrot Jockeys. Definitely one of my favorites.
That's probably enough for now. We'll see how research continues to go...hopefully I can accomplish something in the lab this summer! :)

  1. If you like books I would suggest the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters. They are extremely funny and quite clever.

  2. Oh my goodness. Cake wrecks is fantastic. Great for a slow day at work! :) Although it is sometimes difficult to try to control rolling-on-the-floor laughter.
